The Dawn of Automatic and Fully Automatic Roti Machines

Image
Chapati making is a multi-stage process. From kneading the dough, to the final cooking of chapatis there a lot of things that need to work with precision to deliver a good quality roti. This becomes especially difficult if there are 100s of mouths to feed. Hence, many companies started working on different ways to synchronise the whole process into a machine. The first result of this was the  Automatic Chapati Machine .  This unit could prepare round chapatis of a specified dimension by putting pedas on it. The Automatic Machines could deliver 300-2000 chapatis an hour easily. The Pedas were pressed on cooked uniformly on the machine. Giving fresh, hygienic chapatis.   But this still did not solve the issue of Peda Making.    To tackle this came a solution of using a separate machine which could make Uniform pedas for the chapati machine. This peda cutting machine integrated with the Chapati Making Machine was called the  Fully Automatic Chapati Ma...

The Evolution of Chapati Machines: From Manual to Fully Automatic

Chapati-making, a staple in many Indian households, has evolved significantly over the years, with technology transforming the traditional process from manual labor to fully automatic precision. Early Beginnings In the early days, chapati-making was a manual process involving rolling dough by hand and cooking on a tandoor or flat griddle. The process was labor-intensive and required skill to achieve the perfect texture and thickness. As demand grew, especially in commercial settings like restaurants and canteens, the need for more efficient methods became apparent. Introduction of Semi-Automatic Machines In India, the first significant leap came with the advent of semi-automatic chapati machines 3 to 4 decades earlier. These machines automated certain aspects of the chapati-making process, such as dough preparation and initial flattening. However, manual intervention was still required for rolling and cooking. These machines were a major improvement over traditional methods, r...
